This custom home, designed by THAD, was awarded the 2021 BILD Calgary Region Award – Winner in the Single Family category.
We’re proud to have provided the architectural design for this award-winning residence, reflecting our commitment to thoughtful and innovative residential design.

The exterior showcases a modern mountain-inspired aesthetic, anchored by a dramatic roofscape defined by five steeply pitched gables, Douglas Fir timber beam detailing, and angled timber struts that terminate into the façade to support the covered entry canopy. The material palette includes smooth-grain batten board siding, a brick base, and warm wood soffits, combining natural textures with clean architectural lines. The lower rooflines are finished in standing seam metal cladding, introducing a refined contrast that enhances the home's overall articulation and durability.

Inside, the home features a two-story living room that brings vertical drama and natural light into the heart of the plan. The open-concept main floor layout seamlessly aligns the kitchen, dining, and living areas to foster connection and flow. A feature staircase opens directly into the living room, offering a sculptural presence while enhancing the home’s sense of spatial volume and vertical continuity.
